This week I made the jump back to Posterous and I have to say that it's been really easy getting up and running again.
For a few weeks now I have been wondering if my current blogging setup was really working for me. With two tumble blogs on Tumblr, I found myself either spending too long writing posts or being distracted by other people's tumble blogs. It wasn't really the fault of Tumblr, but the temptation to wander through popular posts was there.
When Steve Rubel announced he was moving his blog into the cloud and using Posterous, I decided to re-evaluate this blogging platform for myself.
Creating the account was simple and importing the data into Posterous from my two tumble blogs was a quick process. A session of tagging my posts and renaming a few post titles and I was done. All in it probably took me half an hour to complete, but I didn't have too many posts to organise.
There were a couple of grumbles however:
- Is it possible to bulk edit posts? - I wanted to tag a selection of posts but I didn't see anything that would let me do this.
- Non-editable URL slug of posts - I couldn't change the URL slug of the posts that I imported from Tumblr so some of them now have an inconsistent URL slug that doesn't match the new title of the post.
